Last Monday night at Touchdown in Dover, Delaware, the Let's Do Trivia showdown reached epic Grammy-worthy proportions! Phayne, Guys, Oakey Afterbirth, Trouble, ACC, Misty J missing the Big J, The Mulligans, and Maximum Effort brought their A-game, and by A-game, we mean they were competing like it was the Battle of the Bands at the Grammys!
Oakey Afterbirth tried to harmonize their answers, but it sounded more like a cat on a hot tin roof. Trouble caused, well, trouble with their confounding knowledge of obscure facts. Misty J was definitely missing the Big J, perhaps backstage trying to find the perfect spotlight for her solo trivia act.
The Mulligans attempted a comeback with a twist of fate, but alas, the trivia gods weren't feeling as forgiving as the Academy during a live TV performance. ACC, on the other hand, was more off-key than a kazoo at a symphony.
In a surprising turn of events, Guys took home the silver, proving that they can not only rock trivia but also hit those high notes like Mariah Carey at the Grammys. Maximum Effort, however, stole the spotlight and clinched the gold with the precision of a Grammy-winning producer mixing the perfect track.
As the confetti (or was it just stray quiz papers?) rained down, Maximum Effort celebrated their triumph, clutching their $40 prize like it was the coveted Grammy statuette. Guys graciously accepted their $10 prize, still in shock that they didn't have to thank their moms, dads, and the guy who sold them the lucky trivia pencil.
And so, the Let's Do Trivia stage at Touchdown witnessed a night of epic battles, wild harmonies, and more drama than a Grammy acceptance speech. Until next time, trivia warriors – may your knowledge be as sharp as a well-tuned guitar solo!
