🧠 A Tale of Triumphs, Trophies, and Total Final Question Carnage!
What a night at Touchdown Restaurant & Bar in Dover! We had 50 brilliant minds, well, maybe 49 brilliant and one distracted, packing the room, creating the kind of buzzing energy that makes me forget how hard I have to work to keep up with you all. The absolute highlight of my evening was seeing some familiar, legendary faces from back in our old "Blue Earl" days. It felt like a mini reunion, only with more beer diversity and nobody tossed cookies on Aunt Ashley.
The first half was a total heavyweight battle. By the time the halftime whistle blew, My Favorite Team and The Exiles were locked at the top with 37 points each, while The Quizly Bears were breathing down their necks just one point behind. The middle of the pack was trading blows like a frantic game of musical chairs, and nobody was giving an inch.
As we rolled toward the final stretch, the tension was thick enough to cut with a butter knife. Heading into the Final Question, My Favorite Team and The Exiles were still deadlocked at 66 points. But they couldn't relax, because The Waste Time Continuum (65) and The Van Goghs (64) were lurking right behind them like trivia ninjas.
Then came the Final Question. And oh, the humanity.
It was a total game-ending disaster for almost the entire room. Teams started dropping left and right as the answers came in. My Favorite Team tried a clever, cautious 1-point wager that left them at 65. Meanwhile, The Exiles went big, dropped a 20-point wager, and took a scenic route down to 46 points.
But out of the wreckage arose a single, glorious survivor. Angry Raisins were the only team in the entire house to actually get the Final Question correct! They dropped a bold 20-point wager, vaulting themselves from the middle of the pack straight into the winner's circle with a massive 78 points.
Our podium ended up looking like a glorious battlefield:
- 🥉 3rd Place Trophy: The Exiles (holding strong despite the final question slide).
- 🥈 2nd Place & $10: My Favorite Team (proving that defensive wagers pay off).
- 🥇 1st Place, $40, & Glory: Angry Raisins, who took home the top cash prize and what I am officially calling the most impressive trophy in the entire history of trophy-making.
Speaking of sports and spectacular victories, we are doing it all over again TONIGHT and every Monday at 6:30 PM! For your Round 2 Art Bonus, if you draw a soccer ball on the App's scribble pad right there at Round 2, Question 1, you will magically pocket a clean 3 points. Why a soccer ball? Because it's classic, it's round, and frankly, my artistic skills stop at basic geometry, so I want to see if your squad can do any better on the field.
